State police investigate shooting

A Dry Ridge man is in jail after allegedly shooting a woman in Pendleton County.

The incident occurred at 12:37 a.m. on Feb. 27 on Kells Road.

The call came in as a fight in progress and when troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 6 arrived at the home they found Sharli Bowman, 30, had been shot. The wound was non-life threatening.

Bowman was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Grant County where she was later flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati.

Police charged Joseph Goree, 34, with assault first degree, two counts of wanton endangerment first degree, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault fourth degree.

He was lodged in the Boone County Detention Center.

The Grant and Pendleton County Sheriff’s Offices and Pendleton County EMS assisted at the scene.

The investigation is on-going and is being handled by KSP Trooper Jeremy Moore.
