-A A +A

Pat Chidester ‘Lunch & Learn’

Name: Pat Chidester of Dry Ridge
Club: Lunch & Learn
Hobbies: Baking, golf, horseback riding, kids and grandkids, hanging out in front of my computer and browsing Facebook, visiting the Dry Ridge Personal Care Home and celebrating birthdays with all the residents there and West Virginia football!
Other clubs/organizations: Eagle Creek Country Club, Dry Ridge Baptist Church and World of Sports Golf League
Years involved in homemakers: I am a charter member of Lunch & Learn; it’s been three or four years

What do you get out of being a member of homemakers: Love the knowledge gained about community, crafts, quilting and cooking—just meeting new folks and learning from them better ways to do ordinary things.

What is the best lesson you’d pass onto other homemakers: Get involved! Interact and learn from each other.

What is the most meaningful homemaker project that you’ve participated in: Any project where we reach out to those in need. I love that our group is benevolent like that.

What is your favorite book: the Bible—a never-ending wealth of lessons, love stories, history, poety, inspiration and answers to the meaning of life.

What is your favorite song and type of music: I’m a music nut—love everthing from Hip-Hop to Gospel. My favorite song, “I will rise” by Chris Tomlin.

Favorite holiday: That’s easy—Easter! The most important of all holidays for me. As a bonus, it’s a great time of renewal for nature. Hope springs eternal at Easter time. Besides, you can’t beat Easter for chocolate! The pastel M&M’s are the best!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why: We have traveled extensively, thangs to hubby’s job. But at the end of all the travels, there’s no place like home. I still haven’t been to China, though and would love to see that.

Tell one thing about yourself that might surprise your friends and family if they knew: I’m pretty much an open book, so this is a tough assignment. At this stage of my life, I guess it would be crazy, but I’d love to learn how to dance! I can’t dance at all—not a dance step in my body. Seriously—life is short and getting shorter—let’s all dance!
