GCYFL holds fall registration for football and cheerleading

The Grant County Youth Football League will hold registration for their fall league on July 11. This is for football and cheerleading.

The signups will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be held at the Grant County High School football field house.

The registration fee is $65 plus a $15 equipment fee, which is refundable when all equipment is returned at the end of the season. Family discounts are available.

GCHS football plans youth camp

GCHS football and head coach Mike Davis present their future stars camp for youth that are of school age from kindergarten to eighth grade.

The camp is a non-contact football camp and will be held from July 13 to 15 at the GCHS football fields.

There will be two sessions. The first session is for grades kindergarten through fourth grade from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the second session is for students in fifth grade through eighth grade from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, please contact Mike Davis at 859-824-9739 or 859-496-7970. Flyers should be available at local businesses, the library or at GCHS.

Campers can register the day of and the fee is $40 if received before July 5. It is $5 after that date. For families with more than one player attending, there is a $10 discount.

Braves prepare for practice

Registration and practice for high school football is at 5 p.m. July 10 at the GCHS football field, with conditioning beginning that evening at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Anyone interested in playing football for the high school needs to be there to register.

A valid physical is needed in order to participate in high school athletics.

Special Olympics softball team looking for sponsors

The Grant County Special Olympics have started their softball season. The team is called the Grant County Fireballs and they are in need of sponsors for the program.

The team is looking for area businesses to help support the program. All donations are tax deductible. The contributions will help buy new uniforms and softball equipment for the team.
