Williamstown finishes season at regionals

The Williamstown junior varsity/varsity cross country team finished their season Nov. 2 at Sherman Elementary at the Class A regionals.

In “perfect running weather”, the season ended on a successful note as several runners hit their personal best times. Although no team members qualified for state this year, Coach Mark Kinsey was pleased with the overall performance of the teams.

“We had a lot of newcomers who have really improved this year,” he said. “We also were able to have two complete teams compete at regionals.”

His goals for the next season are to continue to improve and to build the team by recruiting new runners.
Seniors Chaz Jordan, Austin Gordon, Macy Goetz, Ariana Yerbafria and Belle Ridder ran their last high school cross country race. Gordon competed this year in his first season.

“I’m glad I ran, it’s made me stronger and helped prepare for track,” he reflected. Both Jordan and Gordan plan to compete in track in the spring.
Running in Saturday’s race on the girls’ team were (in finishing order): Avery March, Ariana Yerbafria, Macy Goetz, Belle Ridder, Megan Perkins and Carly Middleton.

Members of the boys’ team competing were (in finishing order): Bradley Perkins, Brady Montgomery, Chance Jordan, Chaz Jordan and Austin Gordon.
