One inning.
That is how close the Grant County High School softball team came to winning its fourth consecutive 32nd District championship on May 23.
Rather than hoist the champion's trophy, the Lady Braves left with the runner-up plaque, which they dedicated to fallen classmate Joshua Lilly, following a 3-1 loss to host Simon Kenton in the final. Despite the loss, Grant County advanced to the 8th Region Tournament, which opened earlier this week at Oldham County.
