Gov. Steve Beshear signed an amended Executive Order on March 5 that will allow Kentuckians displaced by recent storms to access up to a 30-day supply of needed medicines from a pharmacist.
Invoking legislation enacted in 2010, this is the first time this particular executive order has been issued.
Grant County joins 23 other counties which have been affected by the March 2 tornado.
This order allows for temporary restoration of those drugs and allows pharmacists to temporarily relocate and dispense those prescriptions from a new location outside their regular pharmacies.
This does not allow for emergency refills of controlled substances. A new presciption will be needed for these medicaitons.
Medicaid FFS and MCOs will cover the cost of these medications without any cost to the patients affected by these recent storms.
