Kentucky state law will kick in on July 1 and automatically raise the state’s gas tax 2.4 cents a gallon. The law has raised the state’s gas tax in nine of the last 10 years.
The state will collect an additional $72 million in tax revenue as Kentucky’s tax on a gallon of gasoline goes up to 32.3 cents. That will be almost twice the gas tax we were paying a decade ago.
The law partly ties the gas tax rate to the average wholesale price of gasoline.
