OUR OPINION

-A A +A

Don’t forget local merchants

Many of us will spend Thanksgiving day talking about and planning for the upcoming Christmas season.
Friday is the biggest shopping day for the year and many will be out as the clock strikes midnight marking gifts off their lists as they maneuver through crowded stores. Many will travel to Florence, Cincinnati or Lexington to shop, overlooking the opportunity to spend your hard-earned money at local businesses, many of whom are struggling to stay afloat in these hard economic times.
Many businesses in Grant County will be open Thanksgiving night and early on Black Friday and are offering deals and specials to entice the community to shop locally.
These businesses are the ones who support local little league teams, community events such as the Relay For Life and Grant County Fair and ones who are called upon to give and give.
Now it’s time for us to give something back to them - a chance to compete and stay in business so they’ll be able to keep being generous.
