The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a winter weather advisory for the Tri-State.
The advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon until noon on Friday.
Rain will change over to snow showers later Thursday afternoon as temperatures are expected to fall quickly below freezing. In most areas, about 1 inch of snow is expected but pockets of up to 2 inches could appear.
