Grant County residents will soon be able to enjoy movies under the stars.
For the second consecutive year, Grant County Parks and Recreation will show free flicks on a 24 feet by 15 feet inflatable screen at Grant County Park in Crittenden.
The Movies in the Park series will feature a total of 10 movies screening at dusk the second Saturday and fourth Friday of each month from May through September.
The first movie about an animated robot in love is scheduled for Saturday, May 9.
Other dates are May 22, June 13, June 26, July 11, July 24, Aug. 8, Aug. 28, Sept. 12 and Sept. 25.
“It was very successful,” Tabatha Fryman, director of Grant County Parks and Recreation, said about the event’s inaugural year.
There were 1,390 attendees during last year’s Movies in the Park.
“We definitely learned that our movie selections helps us get more people,” she said.
Viewers are asked to arrive about 30 minutes before dusk and they have a choice of sitting on a chair or blanket to watch the film outside or sit in their car and listen to the sound through FM radio.
For a few select dates, Fryman said Kiwanis has allowed the department to use their putt putt course for families to play for free.
Concessions will be available before the movie begins.
“We try to keep everything pretty low cost,” Fryman said. “Basically, there’s popcorn, candy and drinks.”
