For the first time, families needing affordable sports physicals for their children under age 20 can obtain them at the Grant County Health Center, 234 Barnes Road, Williamstown. The health center will again offer school physicals, as in years past.
Appointments for sports physicals are available from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays through Aug. 12. The exams will be conducted by an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, and include a physical exam, check of vital signs and other age appropriate screenings. Health education and vaccine information will be provided as well.
Medicaid will be billed for the sports physicals for those who are eligible. Others will be charged on a sliding-fee scale based on the household income.
Appointments for school physicals are available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The exams will be conducted by either an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or a Registered Nurse. School physicals include a physical exam, check of vital signs and other age appropriate screenings. Health education and vaccine information will be provided as well.
