Louis C. ‘Bud’ Conrad, 87, of Dry Ridge, died Aug. 11, 2012, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Grant County.
Bud was a person of many jobs; his last work was hauling water in Owen and Grant counties. He was known to many people as the “water man.” Bud was a farmer, former co-owner and manager of Grant County Farm Supply and a member of the Dry Ridge Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and a founding member of the Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Anna W. Conrad; his first wife, Margaret Thornton Conrad; a son, Louis C. Conrad, Jr.; a grandson, Troy Conrad; a granddaughter, Susan McClure; a stepson, Bill Samford; two sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia K. Conrad; a son, David Conrad of Smyrna, Tenn; a stepson, Mark Kyle of Carrollton; stepdaughters, Geraldine Utz of Lexington and Mona Ammerman of Dry Ridge; granddaughters, Tracy Smith and Terri Woodyard and a great grandson, Drew Combs. He also has several step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 14 at the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge.
Burial with military honors was in the Jonesville Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Macedonia Baptist Church or the Dry Ridge Baptist Church.
