Locals chosen as pageant finalists

Ashley Dawn McMullen, 17, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Kentucky Pageant to be held June 29 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington.

The winner will receive $1,000, a crown and banner, bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California.

McMullen, the daughter of Kayleen Jackson, enjoys cheerleading, gymnastics, swimming, running, basketball and football. She is involved in the Future Farmer’s of America and spirit club.

Also competing will be Jade Manning, 4. She is the daughter of Bre Manning Wolfe.

Manning enjoys ballet and tap classes, cheerleading for peewee football and competing in pageants.

Manning’s mother is a graduate of Williamstown High School. Her parents are former residents of Grant County. Her grandparents are Cyndie and Jeff Orso and Tammy Wolfe. Her great grandparents are Anne and Rick Stephens.

Manning is currently Miss Easter Doll 2009 and she was grand supreme in the Natural Dolls Pageant on April 4 in Richmond, as well as Tiny Miss Chocolate Festival Queen and Heart of the Bluegrass Tiny Miss Queen 2009. She will represent Maysville and Richmond in the Kentucky Festivals State Pageant in November and the Kentucky Natural Dolls State Pageant in August.
