A House bill strengthening and updating laws protecting children from Internet predators moved quickly through the 2009 Kentucky General Assembly.
House Bill 315, which had 21 cosponsors, including Rep. Royce Adams, D-Dry Ridge, prohibits registered sex offenders from using social-networking Web sites like MySpace and Facebook that are frequented by minors.
Passage of this bill allows Kentucky prosecutors to criminally charge sex offenders removed from the sites.
Since May of 2007, MySpace has removed the profiles of 90,000 sex offenders.
