The Lady Demons are gearing up for the Lady Braves Dec. 17 at Williamstown High School.

In the past couple of seasons, both teams have split the home-and-home series with the home teams winning each game.

Williamstown coach Mark Wilhoit, is looking forward to squaring off against the Lady Braves.

“Anytime you face your county rival, it is going to be a battle,” he said. “Obviously they could be 15-0 and us be 0-15 and it would still be a battle on the floor.”

Wilhoit is aware that Lady Braves coach Darrell Guffey will be ready to face his Lady Demons.

“Coach Guffey does a great job at Grant County,” he said. “He will have his girls ready for us.”

It is a tale of two different seasons for the county rivals, as Williamstown (3-3) is showing signs of being a competitor and a young Lady Braves team (0-3), is searching for their niche, after losing point guard Macy Wright to an injury.

It will be a final home game against Grant County for seniors Tori Wilhoit, Chelsea West and Haley Rothwell and they are looking forward to taking on their foes on Dec. 17.

“Grant County is going to be a fun game for us,” West said. “I think it will be a good match up.”

Tori Wilhoit agreed it will be fun.

“Grant County is our rival,” she said. “I know that we are going to be playing hard and especially our seniors it is going to be our last time playing them here at home. That is our big rival and we want to go out there and beat them.”

The game time is set for 7:30 p.m. and admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

“It will be nice to see our fans and Grant County fans to fill up the stands,” Mark Wilhoit said. “To see the band rocking before the game. It will be a nice atmosphere and looking forward to having a good game.”
