A 17-year-old juvenile has been charged with burglary after police say he attempted to break into a sports store and steal guns.

Grant County Sheriff’s deputies, Kentucky State Police and Williamstown police were called to an intrusion alarm at 1:41 a.m. on May 14 at the River Traders Shooting Sports (formerly Crittenden Lumber) on U.S. 25 in Crittenden.

Upon arrival officers found a juvenile attempting to break in. He ran into a wooded area but was caught after a K-9 unit with the Florence Police located him in a wooded area.

Police said the juvenile had gained entry into the warehouse area, but not into the gun shop. The only item missing was a saw.

Deputy Brian Maines is handling the investigation.
