JROTC shows some girl-power at Tennesse competition

The Grant County High School JROTC Raider Teams competed in the Alternate National Championships hosted by Campbell County High School Army JROTC Program at Cove Lake State Park in Caryville, Tennessee.
GCHS JROTC teams performed well, facing steep competition from other Kentucky teams, as well as teams from Tennessee and West Virginia. The boys team, and for the first time the all-girls team finished the competition with the following results: The boys team led by Cadet Eric Napier finished third place in the 1.5 mile cross country rescue course and the first aid academic test  and took first place in the timed knot tying contest. They were eighth in one rope bridge building and obstacle, second in map academic timed test and came in third in the strength test, which included a mile run, tire flip and 6 inch filled steel pipe carry, as well as a 40 yard push up bridge.
The girls team led by Kory Reed came in second in the 1.5 mile cross country rescue, third in first aid academic test and timed knot tying. They were second in the one rope bridge building and crossing obstacle and came in third in the map academic timed test and in the strength test.
In the end, GCHS JROTC won second overall champions for male and female team categories competing against 217 JROTC units.
