This summer I will be involved in the community not as a resident but as a student intern at the Grant County News.
My name is Jenny Johnson. I am 20 years old. I lived in Grant County throughout middle school and high school and graduated from Grant County High School in 2007.
I am currently enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University earning a major in journalism and minor in psychology. I really enjoy writing and getting to know people.
I have two great parents, Mike and JoAnn Johnson, and two older brothers, Scott and Caleb.
At school, I am highly involved in a Christian ministry called Campus Crusade for Christ. I was a leader of the women’s ministry for one year and now I co-lead a freshmen Bible study.
I enjoy participating in intramural sports that are offered at EKU. My team and I received first place T-shirts last year for two of the more elite sports: ultimate Frisbee and kickball. We’re hoping to make it two years in a row next year.
My hobbies include reading and writing (go figure), spending time with family and friends, playing euchre and Catch Phrase, and being active, whether that is running around the neighborhood, going to a park, or camping at Red River Gorge.
If someone were to tell you my personality in a nutshell, I would like to think they would say that I am a relaxed, positive and caring person who likes to laugh.
I don’t know what it is about Grant County, maybe all the family connections, the small town gossip, the lazy fishing days, or the infamous Grant County fair, but I’m happy to be here and spend the summer with you all.
I am excited to be apart of the family here at Grant County News and see what I can do for the community.
I will be around town often so if you see me out please, say hi.
