Indictments 7-21-11

The grand jury, which met July 13, returned indictments against 12 people.
An indictment means there is probable cause to believe a crime has been committed; guilt or innocence is established later through the trial procedure.

Those indicted were:
• Lee Matthew Mathis, 37, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.
• Steven Wayne Spahn, 38, rape in the first degree.
• Andrew J. Clemons, 27, fraudulent insurance act over $500 and falsely reporting an incident.
• Jeffrey A. Courtney, 41, escape in the second degree and being a persistent felony offender.
• Sue Ann Koors, 48, promoting contraband in the first degree.
• Aaron Thomas Platt, 27, promoting contraband in the first degree.
• Allen Lloyd, 18, theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property with a value of $500 or more.
• James Robert Purnell, 23, receiving stolen property over $10,000 and being a persistent felony offender second degree.
• Jerry L. Purnell, 18, receiving stolen property over $10,000.
• Marinda A. McDannold, 24, receiving stolen property over $10,000.
• Joshua D. Wilson, 20, receiving stolen property over $10,000.
• Jason C. Nicholson, 28, receiving stolen property over $10,000 and being a persistent felony offender second degree.
