Indictments 5-19-11

The grand jury, which met May 11, returned indictments against 27 people.
An indictment means there is probable cause to believe a crime has been committed; guilt or innocence is established later through the trial procedure.

Those indicted were:
• Eric G. Carpenter, 41, knowingly exploiting an adult resulting in a financial loss of $300 or more.
• Raymond D. Hudson, 41, knowingly exploiting an adult resulting in a financial loss of $300 or more.
• Eric S. Ligon, 25, manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, possession of a controlled substance first degree, second or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense and persistent felony offender second degree.
• Kara A. Howell, 19, manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, possession of a controlled substance first degree, second or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense and three counts of unlawful distribution of a methamphetamine precursor, first offense.
• John M. Walls, Jr., 44, manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense.
• Robert F. Ipock, 33, trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, first offense, possession of a controlled substance first degree and persistent felony offender first degree.
• Edward L. Benton, 24, trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, first offense and possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense.
• Ida B. Gutman, 41, trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, first offense.
• Christopher T. Wood, 32, receiving stolen property valued less than $10,000.
• Jeffrey A. Wood, 39, receiving stolen property valued less than $10,000 and persistent felony offender first degree.
• Charles E. McCarthy, 23, fraudulent uses of a credit/debit card.
• Blaine R. Neal, 21, burglary second degree, theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property $500 or more and theft of a controlled substance, first offense less than $300.
• Tammi L. Cobb, burglary second degree, theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property valued $500 or more and theft of a controlled substance, first offense less than $300.
• John C. Short, 25, possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense and promoting contraband first degree.
• Eric Matthew Deck (aka Eric M. Iles), 30, possession of a controlled substance first degree, second or subsequent offense, possession of a controlled substance second degree, second or subsequent offense, tampering with physical evidence, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first offense within a five-year period and persistent felony offender first degree.
• Charles J. Neal, 34, 11 counts of unlawful distribution of a methamphetamine precursor, first offense.
• George E. Dawley, 35, four counts of unlawful distribution of a methamphetamine precursor, first offense.
• Nora M. Bales, 31, 11 counts of unlawful distribution of a methamphetamine precursor, first offense.
• Krystal D. Courtney, 19, 12 counts of unlawful distribution of a methamphetamine precursor, first offense.
• Lakeshia R. Crabtree, 19, two counts of unlawful distribution of a methamphetamine precursor, first offense.
• Robert M. Jones, 46, fleeing or evading police first degree and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, second offense withing a five-year period.
• Brent A. Foley, 20, criminal possession of a forged instrument first degree.
• Justin M. Malott, 19, criminal possession of a forged instrument first degree.
• Daniel R. Vendler, 31, receiving stolen property valued less than $10,000.
• Thomas Banford Strong, 20, two counts of sexual abuse first degree and indecent exposure first degree.
• Joshua Bushong, 26, flagrant nonsupport.
