Haleigh Hillman, an 11-year-old, fifth grader at Mason-Corinth Elementary, won the Family Nurturing Center poster contest held recently.
The artwork will be displayed on TANK buses throughout Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati in the month of April.
The artwork entitled “A Family Is The Spice Of Life” was created by Hillman.
“Half of it came from my brain and the other half came from the Internet,” Hillman said.
She has been drawing since she was in kindergarten.
“When I paint I get messy and it calms me down,” Hillman said.
According to Karla Hurley, Mason-Corinth Elementary Family Resource Director there were about 50 entries ranging in grades third through fifth.
Hurley said that she wanted Mason-Corinth to have an opportunity to participate in the competition.
Hillman said that she thought there was a mistake and that she couldn’t have won the competition.
Hillman also likes to read and play soccer.
“We’re very proud of her,” Hurley said.
She is the granddaughter of Wayne and Sue Hillman of Corinth.
Hillman also received eight weeks of free art lessons at Carnegie Hall in Covington and had the option to choose either a gift card or a pizza party for her class.
