Harrell receives tuition scholarship

Sandra Harrell, an employee of the Grant County Public Library, has been named a recipient of a Library Science Tuition Scholarship.
Harrell received a $500 scholarship. She is attending Bluegrass Community and Technical College. The State Board for the Certification of Librarians created the Library Science Tuition Scholarship program to encourage continuing education among library administrators and staff. The board distributed $6,500 in scholarship money to nine Kentucky public library employees for the spring semester. The board is composed of the Kentucky state librarian and five members appointed by the governor. The board reviews questions on the process of library certification, hears appeals on certification and certification renewal matters and issues and renews library certificates.
