Grant County Saddle club holds trail challenge

The Grant County Saddle Club will hold their Third Annual Trail Challenge in conjunction with Horse Heritage Days on Sept. 24 at the Northern Kentucky Fairgrounds in Williamstown. Opening ceremonies will include a drill team.

Registration begins at noon and classes start at 1 p.m. Classes include: fun classes, ribbon race, boot race, musical chairs, egg and spoon, catalog race and water glass class. The entry fee is $2 per class or enter all for $10. Fun classes receive ribbons only.

Challenge obstacles include: pass through gate; pick up mail–deliver at end of course; dismount on left-move egg from one cone to another; remount on right from hay bale; log pull; bridge, wildlife and log crossing; squeeze chute; pass through an L-shaped campsite; curtain; tire pull through figure-eight; snake pit, back through U-shaped obstacle; pinwheel; barrel weave; cross tarp and mail drop off. Entry fee is $10 per run in youth, ladies or men’s divisions. Payback for trail challenge only: first place, $25, second place, $15 and third place, $10.
