The Grant County Middle School students and staff recently held their annual canned food drive to help families in need during the holidays.
In five days the students collected 2,512 canned and box food items to donate to Helping Hands in Williamstown.  Barb Jones, GCMS student council sponsor, urged all students and staff to “do what you can” to help those needing our help during the holiday season.

“Our students never disappoint me,” said Jones.  “I am so proud of their heart and their commitment to help others.  We have great students.”
“The can food drive was an inspirational message from GCMS, a sign of hope for our community,”  said Mason McClure, eighth grade student council member,

Edwardo’s is providing a pizza party for Carla Menz’s homeroom class that collected the most canned food items. They donated 250 food items. David Dransman’s class brought in 227 food items, coming in second place and Barb Jones’s homeroom class donated 187, coming in third place.
Students learned a valuable lesson through this process.
“We can make a difference,” said Mallory Robinson, an eighth grader.
