The Grant County Middle School Boys Basketball team attained three wins over RA Jones on Jan. 28. The boys were eager to return to the court as they had worked hard practicing during the snow days.
The eighth grade boys won 37–35.  Grant County took the lead early however, RA Jones did not give up ending the half with a lead of 24–23.  The game continued to be a close one throughout the third and fourth quarters.  With 21.5 seconds left in the game and Grant County down by one, Michael Frost went to the foul line tying the game.  RA Jones heads down the court hoping to regain the lead.

The Braves forced a turnover with 19 seconds on the clock.  RA Jones fouled Kyle West sending him to the line for two shots.  As the fans cheered them on, Kyle hit the foul shots giving the Braves a two-point lead with only 8.1 seconds left in game.
The Braves played good defense and came away with the win. The leading scorers were Kyle West and Michael Frost with 12, Tanner Dalton 8 and Hunter Renfro 5.

The scores of the seventh and sixth grade games were 49-29 and 39-19, respectively.  It was exciting to see the boys win their last home game of the season.  They have worked hard and dedicated many hours to practice as to improve their skills. Coach Plunkett said, “These young men have worked hard ever since the beginning of the season to accomplish team goals. They have been dedicated as a team and family. It has been my pleasure to coach them.”

The teams competed in the District tournament on the week of Feb. 3.  The teams were coached by Chris Brady (sixth grade) and Dustin Plunkett (seventh and eighth grade).
