Sometimes you just know when something is right.

After talking with Grant County High School girls basketball coach Darrell Guffey, Salena McIntosh knew she had found the perfect place.

A visit to the University of the Cumberlands only confirmed what she already knewthe GCHS senior basketball player would sign with the Lady Patriots.

"I loved the campus, and it seemed like a great fit," said McIntosh.

On May 21, the road to the University of the Cumberlands was completed as McIntosh signed with the NAIA school, where she will play on the junior varsity team for coach Lissi Fuller, who is a former standout at the University of the Cumberlands. McIntosh became the second member of the Lady Braves to sign this year.

McIntosh, who plans on majoring in education, said she is willing to work for whatever comes her way at the next level.

"I think the transition will be OK. It is up to the coach what position I play. I'm just so excited, I want to jump around," McIntosh said after signing the scholarship papers.

Guffey is "confident" McIntosh will do well at the next level.

"I am happy for her. Salena is a great person and has a chance to be a good basketball player. It is a good challenge to see how she will excel at the next level. Cumberlands is a great school, and Salena will be fine with the transition. She will fit right in and do well," Guffey said.
