When Grant County Marching Band arrived at Madison Southern High School in Berea, they knew they had a huge target on their back as the defending KMEA AAAA East Regional Champions.  In order to defend that title, Grant County knew that they had to bring a champion performance to the field.

As the sun was beginning to set, Grant County went to their warm-up area to prepare for their performance under the lights of the stadium. Parents expressed the thought, that if they could harness that same energy during their performance, there would be no stopping them.  As the band finished warming-up, they came in together for one last inspirational talk with Director Dave Owens before they took the field. The band, as always, stood there with determination on their faces and took in the words of their band instructor, everyone with their hands on another band member’s shoulder, unifying the band into one. They were no longer a band of 67 members; they were a family of one.

Entering the field at 7:30 p.m., Grant County defended their title with pride and brought home for the second year running, third out of the last four years, the KMEA Class AAAA East Regional Championship title.

Grant County Marching Band will be performing at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in the KMEA Class AAAA Semi-finals with the determination to be one of the four finalists performing at Papa John’s Stadium in Louisville later that evening.
