Members of the Friendship Foundation at Williamstown High School recently donated nearly $200 to the Grant County Special Olympics. The group gave 50 percent of the proceeds from a dance they held for middle school students.

Friendship Foundation, a student group at WHS, will be holding several other upcoming fundraisers, including an elementary school dance, to help raise $2,100 to participate in the Polar Bear Plunge in February in Lexington.

Twenty-one students must raise $100 each to participate in the plunge, which features a jump into cold water during an even colder day. The group also participated last year in the Polar Bear Plunge, which benefits the Special Olympics of Kentucky.

The staff sponsors of the group are Vicke Crowder, Vicki Brownfield, Rebecca Harris, Billy Griffin, Gail Snow, Kim Sanders and Darlene West. Anyone who would like to donate to the group can call Crowder at Williamstown High School at 824-4421.
