A $25 fire dues added to 2012 tax bills generated more than $180,000 in revenue for five local fire departments in its first year.
The ordinance was passed in May 2012 by the Grant County Fiscal Court and was put on last year’s tax bills.
Dry Ridge and Williamstown residents were exempt from the fire dues and an opt-out clause allowed residents to ask for a reimbursement after they paid the dues.
Before the dues, the fiscal court budgeted $25,000 annually for each department.
