The officers and committee chairmen for the Grant County Future Farmers of America chapter attended the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center July 20-24.
The following members attended: President Tyler Spillman, Vice President Nicole Courtney, Secretary Mattie Kuechler, Sentinel Amanda Mills, Historian Jake Denney, Parliamentarian Tyler Holder and members Tyler Courtney, Clarissa Stoots, Cody Fornash and Cheyenne Miracle, along with advisors Sarah Baker and Richard Gater.
Each member enrolled in a class that dealt with the duties and responsibilities of their office as well as classes that dealt with the organization and operation of a FFA chapter. Members also had plenty of time for special interest classes such as fishing, swimming and photography, along with time for recreational activities.
Each day, chapters in attendance had a meeting time which gave them an hour for any discussion or planning that was needed. Grant County FFA took advantage of this time to plan upcoming activities for the year and also to set goals for the 2009-10 school year. One goal the students wanted to emphasize for the school year was to increase membership and membership activity.
While at camp three members received a highly coveted state leadership award: Mattie Kuechler, Tyler Holder and Amanda Mills.
