By Jamie Baker-Nantz

A Dry Ridge man found out that Kentucky’s spring forest fire hazard season laws are enforced.

Jason Dietz burned a pile of brush on his farm on March 6. The fire spread to an open dump site on the property he purchased a couple of years ago. A large plume of black smoke could be seen for several miles from the farm on Dixie Highway.

On March 9, Dietz received a visit from the Department for Environmental Protection Division of Air Quality. Grant County Solid Waste Coordinator Bryan Miles notified the EPA of the fire after he received several calls.
