A controversial call helped Walton-Verona in their game against Williamstown on April 23, but it might have ultimately helped inspire the Demons to play some of their best baseball as the regular season passed its midway point.
The Demons held a two-run lead in the seventh inning when a Bearcat ran inside the base path to avoid a tag and was called safe by the umpire at first base, allowing the tying run to score. Demons coach Aaron Biddle stepped onto the playing field without calling time and was ejected. The Bearcats went on to win 5-3.
