Demons fall to W-V Bearcats

The Williamstown Demons are still struggling for a win despite the team’s persistent work and improvements. The team attempted to “Cage Those Cats” on Jan. 10 at Williamstown High School against the Walton-Verona Bearcats.


The Demons struggled in the first quarter, scoring only seven points to the Bearcats’ 20 points. After a pep talk going into the second quarter, the Demons were noticeably inspired and scored 15 hard-earned points and narrowing the score to 31-22 at halftime.
Seventh grader Brennan Stanley has found a spot on Williamstown’s varsity team, logging significant playing time among teammates five years his senior. Stanley scored two points for the Demons.
Junior David Jump led the Demons’ scoring with 17 points. Austin Taylor, also a junior, scored eight points. Jordyn Barnes scored five points and Dakota Griffin scored three. Both Zack Rose and Cameron Varner scored two points with Quade Simpson scoring one.
After halftime, the Demons were unable to gain on the Bearcats and scored only seven points in the third quarter. The win went to Walton-Verona with a final score of 61- 40.

The Demons will travel to Simon Kenton on Jan. 22 and to Henry County on Jan. 25. Their next home game is Jan. 24 against Trimble County.
