Brad Cook, son of Kerry and Sandy Cook of Williamstown, has been selected to perform with the 2009 Solid Rock Tour, hosted by Cincinnati Christian University.

Solid Rock is coming to Grant County to do their last performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23 at Williamstown Christian Church. Admission is free.

The choir and band is made up of high school students. In order to be selected, a student must audition and then are chosen by staff from Cincinnati Christian University who are helping with the event. They have been touring in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. The band plays worship music.

Cook is enjoying his time as a student performer with the Solid Rock Tour.

“The tour is a lot of fun,” he said. “Everyone is nice and I can really talk to the people here. The staff have been really nice too.”

Cook is a member of Williamstown Christian Church and is excited to be able to play there. Cook said Nathan Fay, the music minister at Williamstown Christian Church, was the person who pushed him to audition for the tour.

Cook plays the bass and tuba. He has played the tuba for five years and the bass for just over four years. This will be his fifth year as a member of the Williamstown High School marching band. He’s also in a local band named Select Few.

“I really started liking music when I got involved in my high school marching band,” Cook said. “I started playing a lot for that and then I was asked to play bass for my church and picked that up too.”
