CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS

• The Friends of Sherman Tavern will meet at 7 p.m. June 23 at the Senior Citizens Center in Williamstown. All who are interested in preserving and restoring this historical landmark are invited to attend. • The Kentucky League of Property Owners will meet at 7 p.m. June 24 at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Building, 486 Helton Street in Williamstown.

• The Corinth Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 24 at Noble’s.

• The Williamstown Kiwanis will meet at noon June 24 at El Jalisco in Williamstown.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

• Helping Hands is open from 9 a.m. to noon and from 4 to 8 p.m. June 18 and from 9 a.m. to noon June 23. Helping Hands, a coalition of local churches, is located at 214 Barnes Road in Williamstown. The group’s purpose is to provide emergency help, including food, clothing and furniture, to needy families.

• Helping Hands Thrift Store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 18, June 19 and June 23. The Thrift Store is located on Barnes Road (behind Grant County Drugs in Williamstown).

• Manger Ministries will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24. The food pantry and clothes closet is operated by Lawrenceville Baptist Church, located on Ky. 1993 in Corinth. Call Lisa at (859) 462-2362 for more information.

• Food distribution day at Helping Hands will be June 24.

EDUCATION

• GED studies are offered at the Grant County Adult Education Center, located at 315 School Road (behind Grant County Middle School). Summer hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. Call 823-1341 for an appointment.

EXERCISE/FITNESS

• The Grant County Tourism Commission will meet at 7 p.m. June 18 in the tourism center at the Dry Ridge Outlet Center.

• The Grant County Fiscal Court caucus will meet at 7 p.m. June 22.

HAPPENINGS

• The Grant County Little League will hold the Josh McGough Memorial Tournament for major league youth at 9 a.m. June 20 at the Williamstown City Field.

• The Grant County Community Collaborative will meet at noon June 23 at the Grant County Public Library. Anyone who would be interested in forming a partnership of people from public, private and business sectors of the county are encouraged to attend. • Clogging classes will begin at 6 p.m. June 23 at the JMB Center on Taft Highway in Dry Ridge.

6 p.m. Dance Like it’s 1599 (Teen and Adult Summer Reading) – During Shakespeare’s time, dancing was considered a wholesome and energetic form of entertainment. 6 p.m. Midsummer Night’s Dream (Children’s Summer Reading) – Magic, buffoonery and blossoming romances are brought to life this intimate in-the-round performance by the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival.
