CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS

• The Corinth Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Noble’s.

• The Grant County Democratic Executive Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Williamstown City Building.

• The Grant County Saddle Club will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Grant County Deposit Bank in Dry Ridge, located at the intersection of Ky. 22 and Warsaw Road. All will gather in the meeting room on the second floor. Call President Lois Shuler at 824-0738 with any questions.

• The Williamstown Kiwanis will meet at noon Oct. 29 at El Jalisco in Williamstown.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

• Helping Hands will be taking applications for Christmas sign up on Oct. 2 at the Helping Hands building. The cutoff date will be on Oct. 30. Helping Hands will be taking preschool children only who do not have siblings in one of the Grant County or Williamstown schools.

• Helping Hands is open from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 23 and Oct. 28. Helping Hands, a coalition of local churches, is located at 214 Barnes Road in Williamstown. The group’s purpose is to provide emergency help, including food, clothing and furniture, to needy families.

• Manger Ministries will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 29. The food pantry and clothes closet is operated by Lawrenceville Baptist Church, located on Ky. 1993 in Corinth. Call Lisa at (859) 462-2362 for more information.

EDUCATION

• GED studies are offered at the Grant County Adult Education Center, located at 315 School Road (behind Grant County Middle School) is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and closed on Friday. Call 823-1341 for an appointment or for more information.

• Operation Imagination for Little Ones, a free program sponsored by Grant County Community Education, will be offered to children ages 1-4 and parents from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Grant County Board of Education. The evening program will consist of a story, movement/dancing, singing and craft based on the evenings theme. If you are interested in attending, contact Jill Marksberry at 824-2871 to reserve your spot.

• Everyday Spanish Class is being offered by Grant County Community Education. Learn general Spanish, including basic expressions, question words, numbers, days of weeks, banking terms, general conversations, restaurant terms and much more. Class will be a four-week classroom instruction time, with an optional trip to local Mexican restaurant to practice what you learn. The class is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Grant County Board of Education. The cost is $40. Session one begins on Nov. 18. To register for class, contact Jill Marksberry at 824-2871.

EXERCISE/FITNESS

EXTENSION OFFICE

• An adult sewing class will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 30. Candy Ailstock will be the guest instructor and will teach a felted wool hat project. There is a $5 supply fee. Call the Grant County Extension Office to register and receive more information. Class size is limited so register by Oct.27.

GOVERNMENT GATHERINGS

• The Grant County Board of Health will meet at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at the Grant County Health Center, 2345 Barnes Road in Williamstown.

• The Grant County 109 Board will meet at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 25 in the basement of the Williamstown post office.

• The Grant County Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in the library’s community room.

• The Grant County Fiscal Court caucus will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 27.

• The Bullock Pen Water District Board of Commissioners will be holding a special meeting at 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the district office.

HAPPENINGS

• The Grant County High School Agriculture Department will have 24 different varieties of student grown chrysanthemums for $5. They will be on sale from 3:05 to 5 p.m. daily at the greenhouse located behind Grant County High School.

• The Northern Kentucky Field and Forest Club will meet from 5 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Lloyd’s Wildlife Management Area in Crittenden. Cost is $3 for 25 practice targets. All trap shooters of any age are invited. Call John at 823-0421 or Darlene at (859) 485-2355 for more information.
