• Helping Hands is open from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 16 and Oct. 21. Helping Hands, a coalition of local churches, is located at 214 Barnes Road in Williamstown. The group’s purpose is to provide emergency help, including food, clothing and furniture, to needy families.

• Olivia Newton-John will make a special appearance for Curves of Dry Ridge and Crittenden at 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. Oct. 17 at Crittenden Christian Church. No, not in person, but on DVD, along with Curves founder Diane Heavin and world-renowned breast cancer surgeon Dr. Ernie Bodai, in an informal and educational video filmed exclusively for Curves.

• The Grant County Board of Elections will meet at 2 p.m. Oct. 16 in the basement of the county clerk’s office.

HAPPENINGS
• The Grant County High School Agriculture Department will have 24 different varieties of student grown chrysanthemums for $5. They will be on sale from 3:05 to 5 p.m. daily at the greenhouse located behind Grant County High School.
