Looking for a job?
The Grant County Career Expo may be the answer for those seeking employment or for a career change.
The Kentucky Career Center-sponsored event will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Grant County Extension Office, 105 Baton Rouge Rd., Williamstown.
“The Grant County Career Expo is the first, large scale, open employer event that the Kentucky Career Center has hosted in Grant County,” said Katrina Harris-Greene, workforce development specialist for the Grant County One Stop Kentucky Career Center. “This will be a wonderful opportunity for local employers and job seekers to meet in a common setting. In the past, job seekers have had to travel outside of the county to job fairs and career expos. Local response to the event will help determine the need for future events. The public will also have an opportunity to meet with local service providers that may assist in their job search.”
Local and area employers scheduled to be at the expo include: Dana, Dorman, Cracker Barrel, East Kentucky Power Cooperative, Grant Manor Genesis Healthcare, NKU-Grant County Center, Commonwealth Insurance Group, Wal-Mart, Grant County Public Library, Grant County Schools, DHL Express, Adecco, Kroger and KOI Auto Parts.
Service provides at the event will include: Brighton Center, Career Connections, Connect Youth WIA, Health Connections, Gateway Community and Technical College, Grant County Adult Education, Veterans Employment Services, NKU-Grant County Center and Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
More employers and service providers are expected to be added as the date of the expo gets closer.
The event is free to employers and job seekers.
Those planning to attend should bring multiple copies of their resume or work history and dress business casual, said Harris-Greene.
“This is an opportunity for job seekers to meet with employers face to face and discuss opportunities with their company,” she said.
For job seekers who would like assistance with a resume before the event, call the Grant County Career Center at (859) 428-8014, to schedule a resume appointment.
