-A A +A

Name: Scott William Buckler  of Florence

Job title/school: Special Education teacher at Dry Ridge Elementary

Educational background (high school, college): Ryle HS (2000); NKU B.A. Psychology (2006); Union College M.A.E./Certification (2012)

What is your favorite part of your job: Interacting with the children in which I serve.  Witnessing progress and watching them develop and make progress.

Hobbies: Fishing; Music (listening and playing); Travel

Community involvement: Volunteer hours for a variety of services.

What is the last book you read? Did you like it? Why or why not. The last book I read was related to work. It was not for enjoyment, rather, it was for the benefit of the kids I serve.

What is your favorite song and type of music:

I can’t say I have a favorite.  I love many genres and am willing to give any new tune a listen.

Favorite holiday: Christmas

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Australia.  I’ve never been there and I hear it is amazing!

Tell one thing about yourself that might surprise your friends and family if they knew: When I was a teenager, I used to write all of the time.  For years I would always write jokes/skits because I wanted to be a standup comic.  It never turned into anything and I no longer write, but I still think about it.

What advice would you give to a student today:  Use your youth to your advantage.  Create a vision, make goals for yourself, and work towards accomplishing them.  You’ll never be less busy than you are now.
