After starting the month off with a pair of losses, the Grant County Braves rebounded nicely to end January with four wins in their last six games.
Included in those wins was am impressive 96-81 victory over Bracken County that marked the highest-scoring output for the team this season, followed by a 57-46 win at Beechwood in an extreme defensive battle.
February will be an especially busy month for the Braves with seven games in 12 days heading into district tournament play. After a district showdown at Walton-Verona on Feb. 4,
Grant County will return home on Feb. 7 to face Carroll County before returning to the road the following day to face the Owen County Rebels.
The Braves will then play three games in three days starting Feb. 12 at home against Campbell County, followed by road games at Conner and then George Rogers Clark.

The Braves outscored Bracken County in three of the four quarters, including 34-21 over the final period of the offensive showdown.
Aaron Hicks led the Braves with 20 points to go with nine rebounds and two blocked shots.
Seth Adkins added 19 points to Grant County’s total to go with three assists and two rebounds, while teammate Logan Cummins contributed 19 points and two assists,
Jordan Saylor continued his impressive play of late with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Austin Johnson gave the Braves five players in double figures with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Austin Schneider chipped in six points for the winners, while Jordan Rose added four points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Luke O’Nan and Cody Kellam rounded out the Grant County scoring with two and one point, respectively.
Grant County hit 10 3-pointers in the game. Cummins hit four, while Hicks, one of the state’s leaders from long range, connected on three. Saylor added two, while Johnson hit one.

Jordan Saylor dominated with a double-double performance of 14 points and 12 rebounds to go with six blocked shots to lead the Braves.
Aaron Hicks nearly gave Grant County a second double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Logan Cummins chipped in 13 points and two assists for the winners.
Seth Adkins scored seven points and pulled down three rebounds for Grant County, followed by Austin Johnson with five points, seven rebounds and four assists. Cody Kellam came off the bench and scored five points in the win, while Jordan Rose contributed two points, four assists and three rebounds.
Grant County jumped on top early and led 20-15 at the end of the first quarter and 30-27 at the half. But it was a 12-5 scoring advantage in the third quarter that put the Braves in control.
