Kristi Howe of Crittenden and Season Caudill of Williamstown are members of the 1997 Eastern Kentucky University Marching Colonels. Under the direction of Christopher Hayes, the Marching Colonels will perform at five home football games and at the Madison Central Tournament.
Stephani Rankin has been named to the Presidents List at Southern Ohio College. She is majoring in computer science. She is the daughter of Kathryn Gouge Rider of Dry Ridge and Bob Rankin of Latonia. Her grandparents are William Gouge of Crittenden and Ruben Rankin of Latonia.

Mt. Zion may have improved fire protection soon, if the Dry Ridge City Council voted to purchase a new fire truck. The council held a meeting and discussed purchasing a fire truck to be used by rural and city departments. The council reached no decision concerning the truck but will be discussed again.
Marine Staff Sgt. Mark K. Gordon, recently participated in Combined Arms Exercise 10-87 with 2nd Marine Division Camp in Lejeune, North Carolina. The four week exercise was established to practice fire support coordination or the various support elements. A 1978 graduate of Walton-Verona High School, he joined the Marines Corps in July 1978.

Linda Tucker, 1962 Miss Grant County Fair, was honored by being chosen one of the 10 finalist for Bob Braun’s Girl Friday on WLW.  TV. She received several gifts and was awarded a scholarship for models in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tucker is the daughter of Clifford Ramsey of Dry Ridge.
Army Sgt. Paul D. King, 25, recently completed the four-week airborne course at The Infantry School in Fort Benning, Ga. Sgt. King received instruction in parachuting and the techniques of airdropping troops and cargo. He is the son of George R. King of Dry Ridge.
