January 1, 1998
Pvt. Joshua Souder graduated on Nov. 12, after 15 weeks of training at Ft. Sill, Okla., with Delta battery 19th field artillery 4th platoon. He is a 1997 graduate of Grant County High School. Souder is the son of Bill and Brenda Souder of Corinth.  

Anthony Wood, son of Steve and Teresa Wood of Williamstown, played William Bolger in the University of Evansville Theatre production of “Jack’s Holiday.” The musical explores the concept- what if London’s infamous Jack the Ripper, had decided to visit America.

December 31, 1987
  Marine Pvt. Glenn W. Hamon, son of Roy G. and Linda L. Hamon of Williamstown recently completed the Subsistence Supply Course. The course covers the operations of office machines and the use of subsistence supply publications. A 1987 graduated of Williamstown High School, he joined the Marine Corps in July 1987.

Williamstown native Elizabeth Renaker is a member of the Berea College women’s basketball team. Renaker a 5-6 forward and Berea freshman, is a graduated of Grant County High School. Renaker is the daughter of Treisa Angel and John Renaker, both of Williamstown.

January 4, 1962
A history of the Williamstown Baptist Church, organized in 1878 published in the Jan. 4 issue of The News. It is written by Belle C. Matthews and submitted by Raymond L. Matthews. It will be noted that the church was called the Williamstown Baptist Church of Christ.

The Mobile Chest X-Ray Unit will be in Williamstown. The trailer will be located at the side of the courthouse. In announcing the coming of the unit the Grant County Health Department urges residents of Grant County to take advantage of this free service, especially if anyone persons have ever had tuberculosis.
