Agnes Beach, known throughout the community as the “doll lady,” celebrated her 96th birthday April 22 attending church services at Dry Ridge Baptist with her daughter, Agnes Johnson and family of Leitchfield.

She along with her husband, Ernest and daughter came to Dry Ridge Baptist February 29, 1948. Over the years, she has taught Sunday School, held the positions of church secretary and financial secretary and was actively involved in the Women on Mission program. Besides her church ministry, she is a member of the Dry Ridge Homemakers and was selected as the Kentucky State “Homemaker of the Year” and received the “Spreading Kindness” award for her doll ministry.

She is active in her doll ministry, collecting dolls which need new “friends”, new faces and clothing for 20 plus years providing dolls to children’s’ ministries in the Southside Baptist Missions, Helping Hands, Severn Vally Missions, children’s missions in Africa, India and Brazil. Missionary Names and a message of the “good news of Jesus” goes with each doll. She said she believes God is not finished with her ministry as each time she begins to think of retirement, a new supply of dolls finds it’s way to her home.

She is blessed with a daughter, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
