Ken Stone, publisher

Ken Stone has been the publisher of the Grant County News and Express since 1988. He was the advertising manager for the Cynthiana Democrat and Harrison Shopper for 10 years prior to coming to Grant County. Ken lived on Corinth Lake from 1992 to 2006 and now lives on Main Street in Williamstown, with his wife, Debbie, who owns and operates Massage on Main Day Spa. Ken is active in Kiwanis and has been the district's Lt. Governor for two terms. He also coordinates the Golden Art Project, which works with care facility and special needs artists. He is a member of the Church of the Advent (Episcopal) Church. Ken has three children and five grandchildren. He is well-known for his woodcarvings. His e-mail address is: kstone@grantky.com


Jamie Baker-Nantz, editor

Jamie Baker-Nantz has been employed at the Grant County News since 1989. She is responsible for all editorial content of the newspaper as well as numerous special sections and projects and oversees a staff of three full-time writers and several contributing writers and photographers. She is a graduate of Walton-Verona High School and holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Eastern Kentucky University. She lives in Dry Ridge with her husband, Jeff, and daughter, Katie. She serves as co-chairman of the Grant County Relay For Life and is a member of the Grant County Friends of the Shelter and Grant County Community Education Advisory Board. Linda Lawrence, editorial assistant

Linda Lawrence serves as the editorial assistant at the Grant County News. She handles obituaries, as well as submitted copy. She covers Crittenden City Council, as well as Grant County Middle and High schools. She also writes feature stories. Linda also handles some circulation duties. She worked for the Grant County News previously and returned in May 2009. She is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Matt Birkholtz, sports writer

Matt Birkholtz has been with the Grant County News since July 2010. He is the sports writer for the Grant County News. His primary coverage is for Grant County and Williamstown High Schools, as well as community sports. He also takes photos and writes feature stories. Matt received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Kentucky University, with a major in journalism with a concentration in sports business.

While at NKU, he served as editor of the Northerner, the NKU's student newsppaer before coming to the Grant County News. He is originally from Ohio and now resides in Florence. He is an avid fan of the Cincinnati Red and enjoys technology.

Bryan Marshall, staff writer

Bryan Marshall has been employed at the Grant County News since October 2008. He serves as staff writer, where his duties include writing a mix of feature and hard news stories.

He covers a wide variety of topics, including Dry Ridge City Council, school board and fiscal court.

Bryan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and English from the University of Kentucky.

He lives in Northern Kentucky with his wife, Kelly, and son, Austin.

In his spare time, Bryan enjoys playing soccer, cheering on the UK Wildcats, watching movies and spending time with family.

Anita Appler, bookkeeper

Anita Appler serves as the bookkeeper at the Grant County News. She is responsible for accounts receivable and payable. She has worked at the Grant County News since January of 2001. She also handles circulation and classified duties. She is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Chardon, Ohio and Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio. She lives in Williamstown with her husband, Jon and dog, Zima. She is a member of the Williamstown Lake Association and is involved with Relay For Life. Janet McKee, graphic artist

Janet McKee is the graphic artist at the Grant County News. She has been employed at the Grant County News since 1988. Her responsibilities include designing ads and handling tearsheets for customers. She is a graduate of Grant County High School. May C. Evans is the specialty advertising representative at the Grant County News. She sells advertising in special sections and publications. She has worked at the Grant County News since February of 2003. She is a high school graduate with an associate's degree in accounting.
